The only constant in life is change ….

You have heard that before and you feel overwhelmed by all the changes we face. Who would have thought that we would be living through a pandemic, on the brink of a major war, political upheaval around the world, economic challenges recessions, increasing crime and the list continues…

Some of us feel our lives are stuck, we feel like the proverbial rat in a rat race…. going nowhere fast.

We can experience change because of 3 major reasons:

Whatever the reason for the change, we can find ourselves when we try our best to adapt to the new situation and make the change, but our mindset, tools and tactics or resistance can stop us from making a successful transition.

Ready to discover what`s holding you back?

Although there may be some overlap in the benefits of working with a life coach and participating in psychotherapy with a licensed therapist, these professionals have distinct roles and serve unique purposes. Unlike life coaches, therapists and other mental health professionals focus on healing, treating mental health conditions, and helping people work through trauma and other issues from their past.

Start living to your fullest today!

One of the main benefits of working with a life coach is the ability to gain a fresh, informed perspective on problems that you face. In addition to offering new insight into challenges, a life coach can help you to zero in on negative patterns that could be standing in the way of your success.

You deserve to live an extraordinary life. And an extraordinary life begins with taking care of yourself. Knowing that you deserve compassion, love or whatever you call it.

Resilience

Let's face it; we all have setbacks, but what separates those who are successful from those who fail is resilience. Those who are successful are willing to stick it out no matter how hard it gets, and no matter how many times they are going to fail. Incorporating this trait into your daily life will help you when times are tough.

Frequently Asked
Questions

I consider myself as a transformative client centered coach, the methodologies, frameworks and tools that I use within the coaching practice is informed by the personality and needs of the clients. The client has ownership, accountability and freedom to define the coaching direction with my support.

The approach I use in coaching is based on me asking reflective questions and listening compassionately for areas where the client has limited clarity and help the client expand their realm of possibility.

I do not offer advice but assist the client to discover what would work for them in their context and align to their personality and values. I help the client develop practical solutions to their challenges and help them to plan their next steps and identify potential constraints and how to overcome them.

People that use a life coach have a deeps desire for change, a need for and willingness to get direction and are focused on achieving their vision. They are also usually people who are willing to take steps to achieve their dreams and visions.

Coaching works best when the client is not forced to have a life coach through another party like a partner or a parent.

According to recent research, people using a life coach remain more focused and gain quicker results because of the support and guidance of a coach.

Coaching is offered online and face to face.

The online coaching takes place using several platforms, i.e. Zoom, teams, Skype or WhatsApp. This allows me to coach people worldwide. It is important that the client have access to a camera on their computer as the client’s body language is important cues for the coach to respond to the clients coaching process. Online coaching is also one of the most effective and convenient ways for individuals to take time out of their busy schedules.

Face-to-face coaching takes place at the coaches premises or at appropriate coffee shops, restaurants or public gardens, where there are low noise levels and some level of privacy.

The differences between coaching and psychotherapy are:

  • Coaches work with their clients believing that clients are healthy and want to optimise their lives and relationships. Therapists uses a diagnostic and healing framework based on pathology and illness.
  • Coaches work primarily with the conscious mind and behaviours to identify constraints in the clients thinking and lives. Therapists work primarily with the unconscious mind to identify gaps and causes of the clients behaviour and to develop new patterns.
  • Coaching deals with where you are now and where you want to be therapist are often interested in helping you deal with past trauma. However, some forms of therapy, such as (CBT) and cognitive behavioural therapy, don’t focus too much on the past.
  • Life coaching is action-orientated and help you set goals and milestones, while therapists are more coping and healing orientated helping you to identify and solve the problems in life.
  • Certified life coaches are trained to help clients get ‘unstuck’ and move forward in life and focus on your potential . Therapist are trained in human development and mental health conditions and helps you be at peace with yourself and your life
  • Coaches work in person, as well as over the phone and is not covered by medical aid/insurance. Therapists usually work in person only and therapy and counselling may be covered by medical / health insurance etc.

There are similarities between coaching and psychotherapy as well. i.e.

  • Both are concerned with making concrete changes in your emotional state and life.
  • Both work to understand the self-limiting beliefs or behaviour caused by thoughts and emotions that you may or may not be aware of.
  • Both practices help you grow, change and master your emotions.
  • Although both coaches and counsellors offer a support system to help, you gain strength and clarity to move forward.

As a  client-centered transformative coach  I focus on the client’s needs and context.  The sessions format and design will be based on your needs and how you work best.

A typical first session will focus on assessing your current situation and designing your coaching objectives. The information for this session can be obtained prior to the session through a questionnaire completed prior to the session and reviewed in the session or question within the actual session.  Based on the discussion we work on agreeing on objectives for coaching based the outcomes you want to achieve from the coaching process. The work of the coach will be help the client get absolute clarity clearer their objectives and it will be the clients responsibility to decide on and commit to the objectives

Coaching is quite results focused and  achieving the objectives you want. The coaching objectives can be changed, but the client need to commit to any new objectives and action plans. Each session is built upon the previous coaching session, ensuring a clear and definite path to the outcomes. During each session, we’ll review the actions and achievements from the last session and look at general progress made. The focus will be on uncovering any obstacles and developing steps to overcome the obstacles. Furthermore, the process of achieving the goals will be analyzed to identify what behaviors contributed to goal achievement and to extract any lessons used by the client in future to achieve success.

The duration of coaching depends on a number of factors i.e.:

  • the client’s coaching objectives,
  • the rate of progress,
  • the types of limitations and obstacles the client is facing,
  • the time that the client has for reflection and implementation, and
  • the client’s budget

I offer coaching packages of between 6-10 sessions, depending on the nature of the coaching objectives and my experience has shown that most people can achieve a great deal of change in their lives with between 6 – 10 sessions. The frequency depends on how busy people are, how urgent the concern is, and what they can afford. The optimal is weekly, especially in the beginning, to keep the momentum.
